Coming Change: BCBS Massachusetts has confirmed it will discontinue all PPO and EPO plans in the merged market after 2026. This takes effect at renewal beginning January 1, 2027, for groups with 1-50 full-time employees, who will need to transition to an HMO or another plan type.

2027 Rate Context
Filed 2027 base-rate increases show BCBS/HMO Blue at 15.3%, against a weighted-average merged-market increase of roughly 12.9%. Rates are still pending Division of Insurance approval, with a final decision expected in August 2026.
